I think that most companies struggle when successful founders take a step back. Similar things happened to both Microsoft and Apple.

The thing that both Apple and Microsoft tell us is that things can improve again. I know lots of people who left Microsoft for Google due to the toxic workplace have gone back there because of the way Microsoft's culture has changed for the better.

So, like everything, this phase is transient. Though, I too mourn for what was.
